This is the different stages my homemade boat has gone through in its life to date. I designed the hull shape on my computer when I was much younger, not really knowing much about hull design, its just sort of looked good at the time. Now I am having to sort out the mistakes I made from back then to get it sea worthy.
The biggest headache is the very streamline hull design which works fine, except it doesn’t displace as much water as a model of this size with a conventional hull would, so weight in the boat is critical. Calculating water displacement of a normal shaped hull against my own design, would give a normal boat of this size around 7kg more water displacement than mine has.
I have now done as much as I can to make it bigger and lighter, and finally seem to have got a good balance.
