This is yet another one of those scale parts all proper off road vehicles seem to have, a snorkel. This allows a proper vehicle to travel through deep water without having to worry about the engine sucking in water instead of air.
The prototype was made from styrene tube cut at angles to fit the shape and angle of the roll cage. The top bit was turned on my lathe to look like the tops I found in pictures and magazines. It was then assembled and the bolt fixed in place in the bottom to allow it to be securely fixed to the scale trucks bonnet.
Once finished a mould was made in silicon and a copy made. The bolt is inserted into the mould prior to the resin going is so its bonded firmly in place, as this is all there is to hold it on.
When resin is fully cured the snorkel is taken from the mould and washed in warm soapy water, then a coat of paint in this case black is applied, then itís a simple case of drilling a small 3mm hole in the bonnet of the truck and attaching it.
This part is for sale.
